The International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) represents the nation’s dairy manufacturing industry as the voice of milk and milk products in international trade, food safety and nutrition programs, food labeling and sustainability initiatives, animal well-being efforts, supply chain management and government relations programs. Founded in 1943, IDFA has nearly 700 member companies that process more than 90 percent of milk consumed worldwide. In the United States, about 400 members operate over 11,500 manufacturing facilities located in 47 states that annually produce more than 17 billion pounds of milk products valued at $39 billion. The U.S.
